Blue Plate Special or Daily Lunch Special ...Are you looking for a place that serves old-fashioned, down-home country cooking like Grandma or Mom (maybe Dad or Grandpa) used to make? A place with character, and maybe some characters, as well. A place that's not too fancy and usually small, but full of happy, satisfied diners enjoying what is often described as southern comfort food or, sometimes, soul food? Their popularity seems to be growing, even though some publications and writers will try to deny the fact.
